§ 73.56. DEFINITIONS.

  • For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
    BUILDING BEING USED OR OCCUPIED FOR MULTI-FAMILY RESIDENCES OR FOR BUSINESS OR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES. Any apartment, condominium, high-rise building or structure used for multi-family housing; any building or structure used for business office, wholesale or retail and industrial purposes; and any shopping center or mall project.
    EMERGENCY or EMERGENCY SITUATION. Any occurrence or event which endangers the health and safety of persons which results in personal injury damage to real or personal property, and which violates the personal rights and privileges of innocent people, including but not necessarily limited to the commission of any crime or law violation, a working fire in or near a building or structure, any occurrence which necessitates immediate medical attention or first aid treatment and any occurrence which necessitates the evacuation of persons from any building or structure to avoid personal injury.
    EMERGENCY VEHICLE. Any police patrol car or investigation vehicle, police prisoner (paddy) wagon, police explosive protection truck and any other vehicle owned by the City Police Department used for responding to police emergencies or calls, any fire truck, aerial ladder, pumper or snorkel fire suppression truck or other fire suppression apparatus, fire investigation or prevention automobile or truck, and rescue truck owned by the City Fire Department used for responding to working fires and other fire-related emergencies; any ambulance, emergency medical or paramedic vehicle, county police vehicle, state police vehicle, volunteer fire department vehicle or apparatus, civil defense vehicle and Red Cross vehicle used for responding to emergency situations.
